So, there's an issue that I've been meaning to address for a while. The issue of GLBTQ Teens. I know high school can be rough... in fact it wasn't long ago that I was in high school-- just trying to fit it. Being a bigger woman, that's hard. Everyone has something to say -- and teachers aren't much better. I live in a disgustingly Republican State where too many parents teach their kids that it's not "okay" to be gay. This has made teen suicide numbers spike -- if you can't come out to your parents, who can you come out to? Your "friends"? I think not -- their parents teach them the same thing. I remember our Gay/Straight Alliance group was shut down. Why? Because parents didn't approve. How does that work? It disgusts me to see the amount of kids ostrasized from their friends and family because of the way their born. It's sad to see so many kids feeling alone when they shoudn't be. Parents, Teachers, and even Clergy need to get their heads out of their asses and care about their kids. They need to STOP telling kids what to do, and just SHUT UP and listen. Stop telling them to "Pray away the Gay" -- and LOVE them. Don't take away their support groups and remind them that they are loved just the way they are. If you are a teen and you need someone to talk to -- there are people out there... don't give up. Find someone. Start a support group and stand up for who you are... you never know who wants to say the same thing.
By the way-- WHERE IS BRYCE?!!?
