Rock Island Police Finally Investigating Teen Hate Crime

Posted by Sheila Putang on Sunday, June 13, 2010, In : Hate Crimes
Apparently Rock Island Illinois Police do not know a difference between a hate crime or a battery. Maybe they do know the difference but are too homophobic to deal with a real hate crime against a gay teen. Watch this video and you tell me how do you think this officer really felt about this situation. I mean it looks to me like he wanted to crack up laughing when he was being interviewed by Chris Minor of WQAD Television.  See the video by visiting WQAD.COM

Westboro Church To Protest Constance McMillen's Graduation

Posted by Sheila Putang on Saturday, May 22, 2010, In : Gay Rights and Politics
Ok this church has really over stepped its bound, and to me is not just an anti Gay church but a church filled with hate. How they claim to be so righteous is beyond me when they stoop as low to protest a childs highschool graduation. I am pretty sure by now that everybody has heard of Constance McMillen the lesbian student from Mississippi who was wanting to take her partner to the prom and the school said no!

This young lady at such a young age is being harrassed, tormented, and discrminate...

Ann Coulter Conservative or Bigot?

Posted by Sheila Putang on Friday, March 26, 2010, In : Gay Rights and Politics
As most of you know that Ann Coulter is back in the head lines but this time its not her blasting her loud bigotry ideals but people blasting against her. One University in Canada actually canceled her appearance. What do I have to say about that? Well GOOD FOR THEM! ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Since when do we as Americans defend racism, bigotry, and hate views and call them free speech? Well Ann for many years has said she practices her rights under the 1st Amendment of Free Speech and talks about her...

God Hate Fags.com

Posted by Sheila Putang on Saturday, January 16, 2010,
I did some research from my last blog post about Westboro church and have decided to look at this website for the first time. I have heard about it, and really just thought of it as a sickening way of recruiting homophobes to their cause, but I am really disturbed as to the other crap that is on this site. Not only does it teach hate! But it also teaches hate against America!

This church really does go overboard by posting such trash on the net for young kids to read. They talk about the word...

Same Sex Marriage - By Gary Konecky

Posted by Gary Konecky on Friday, December 11, 2009, In : Gay Rights and Politics
I recently had the wonderful privilege to participate on a very distinguished panel of clergy that discussed the issue of sexual orientation and scripture. One of the audience members asked a question that attempted to link the ban in Leviticus on homosexuality to the ban in Leviticus on bestiality. Several panel members addressed this question. Then the audience member asked it again, which I take as unwillingness to listen or to accept the pro-gay explanation that was offered.

This brings up...

Do Not Place a Stumbling Block Before the Blind
You Shall Not Stand By the Shedding of Your Fellow's Blood

By Gary Konecky

In the last installment, I explored the purpose of religion as well as a possible reason why some religious figures and organizations demonize the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex (LGBTI) community. In this installment, I will explore two possible prohibitions against such behavior.

Leviticus 19:14 states: “Do not curse the deaf; do not place a stumbling...

We Must See To It That This Does Not Happen Again - Gary Konecky

Posted by Gary Konecky on Wednesday, November 4, 2009, In : Hate Crimes
As clergy, we must speak out against despicable acts such as this. As clergy, we must condemn our fellow clergy who preach hate that leads to this. As clergy, we must demand passage of a federal hate crimes law that will prevent acts such as this and provide a means to prosecute such horrendous acts.

Its Finally Here... New Hate Crimes Bill is now Law

Posted by Sheila Putang on Thursday, October 29, 2009, In : Hate Crimes
After 10 years of hard debate, and from the first time Judy Sheppard called on Congress to create such a law to protect the LGBT Community against hate crimes, the day we all been waiting for was here today! President Obama signed it into law. This is definately a day that we should all remember and hold dear to our hearts. This is the first Federally passed law for the LGBT Community.

Even though we still have more to get done, we shouldn't look at this and keep saying what about this? What ...

Another March On Washington

Posted by Sheila Putang on Wednesday, October 28, 2009, In : Hate Crimes
LGBT and our allies are marching again on the White House on Wed, which is the day President Obama is suppose to sign into law the new Hate Crimes Bill known as the Matthew Sheppard and James Byrd JR. Hate Crimes Act.

Your proably asking why we are doing this again? We got the new law didn't we? Of course we did but that still dosen't put the end to homophobia in our schools, churches, and work places. The March signifies two things. Remembrance of those that were harmed and killed by hate cr...

President to Sign Matthew Sheppard Bill

Posted by Sheila Putang on Monday, October 26, 2009, In : Hate Crimes
Well all I can say its about damn time. We have waited for years to get something like this into law, and it was passed in the Senate last week. There have been speculation that this bill would get passed last month, but it sat in the Senate during that time waiting on a vote. Now that the new bill has been through the proper channels its all set and going to sit on Obama's desk until wed, and this is still a speculation if he will sign it this wed. Obama has promised to sing the legislation ...

Tulsa Oklahoma Gay Bashing But its not a Hate Crime due to State Law

Posted by Sheila Putang on Friday, October 23, 2009, In : Hate Crimes
As the New Anti Hate Crime Bill that includes the LGBT community is on the way to Obamas desk to signed into law there have been alot of gay bashings all over America. This right here gets me all riled up and totally disgusted with homophobia. To think that there are people out there that are willing to cause physical harm and even kill someone because they are different then them. Its total ignorance and its totally unacceptable. The most unacceptable thing with this story is that they are n...
