There are a lot of you that already know the situation with Bryce Faulkner when the story first broke out 5 months ago. There are still many of you that never even heard his name before. So for the ones that already know the story some of this is going to be repetitive for you but its very necessary that people know the story so they can know the movement that is being organized today. The story of Bryce Faulkner will be from the site that I first heard the story about. The site that I first heard this story Click Here
Young Bryce Faulkner, son of fundamentalists David and Debra Faulkner 3025 N Wyatt Dr, El Dorado, AR 71730 (870) 862-8057, son of David and Debra Faulkner [of Port X Medical Services, 532 W Faulkner St, El Dorado, AR 71730, (870) 862-2000 *the preceeding was obtained through public records and www.yellowpages.com ] was raised to believe the God who created him allowed "evil" into his life and he became sick and perverted through his own sin. Yet again conservative "Christians" have paid more attention to everything in the bible except what Christ has to say about homosexuality. This is of course because Jesus never mentioned anything about homosexuality. Indeed, it is not even mentioned in the Ten Commandments. So of the direct writings in stone coming from the hand of God and the words alleged to have been spoken by Jesus Christ, neither mentions a single word about homosexuality. Yet there is a vast network of churches that has facilities, centers and/or retreats used to house people whom have been convinced they are less then worthy of Gods approval. That they have not simply chosen to be gay, but in so doing have become an abomination to God. An abomination being worse then just a sinner and if continued as a practicing homosexual, was unforgivable under the blood of the cross.
Bryce Faulkner is a bright young pre-med student raised by fundementalists who of course, feel homosexuality is one of the worst kinds of sin known to man. Yet he pleged his love for another young man, Travis Swanson. That is until he was caught.
Being raised to beleive homosexuality was just unforgivable, the Faulkners contend Bryce felt he needed "treatment" for his homosexuality and "pleaded" for their help; even as this goes against medical precedence for over 4 decades and recently debunked by the American Psychological Association. It didn't matter to his parents that these kinds of programs have been debunked by all reputable Psychological Associations as fraundulent, harmful and potienally fatal.
Bryce and Travis loved one another deeply . The very reason Bryce was going to come out of the closet "to the world" was in order to move closer to Travis because Bryce stated he wished to spend the rest of their lives together. This is documented in 160 pages of text messaging through Skype between Travis and Bryce. Anyone who loves another can understand the turmoil and deep pain Travis is feeling right now. Having someone you love now pretending the love you share is an affront to God and unacceptable. The man you love being cloistered away for possibly over a year of intense brain washing techniques that tell you your homosexuality is a choice, your love is unnatural and you will sent to a place of fire and brimstone unless you submit to misguided philosophical interpretations of theology. That you can "pray away the gay."
Anyone one who has even the slightest knowledge of programs like those offered by Exodus International (a group that believes homosexuality is a choice and can be changed through prayer and counseling) can be spiritually demoralizing, psychologically destructive and emotionally devastating. You can read about these kinds of conversion therapy on the site Beyond Ex-Gay . As a person who has had someone close to them go through this kind of treatment, I make it my mission to help anyone who is forced to go into this kind of misguided and ill-informed rehabilitation programs.
PLEASE pray for Bryce. Pray that he can repell the false fundamentalist prophets who feel they speak for God and only they have the keys to the kingdom of heaven. I call upon all gay and gay supporters to be on the look out for Bryce. The photo on the main page was taken a short time ago. If you see him, tell him that Travis loves him deeply. If you can, help him to escape if he choses to and contact me if he wants, in order to get him back into his lovers awaiting arms.
For those of us who choose the intimate relationship with God know that God loves all of us, just as we are and not as others would necessarily have us to be. Homosexuality is not an unnatural property, but indeed is a natural creation from God. Homosexuals are not only worthy of Gods love, but indeed are loved just as much as any heterosexual. Bryce needs to know he is not alone. That he has literally millions of individuals in the gay community around the world that will help him to reject the fundamentalist ideologues and help him to stand up and out for himself. (Just read ther guest book.) He needs to know he is loved by God, just as he is and he needs to know there are others out there with exactly the same kinds of experiences. He needs to know that there is a bright future in store for him and he need not submit to the rantings of conservative fundamentalists. Also, please join me in prayers for Travis that he find strength to get through these days of worry for Bryce, that Bryce find a way out of the clutches of misguided Christian "wannabes". Christ tells the Christian...
Matthew 22...
36"Master, which is the great commandment in the law?"
37Jesus said unto him, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind."
38This is the first and great commandment.
39And the second is like unto it, "Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
40On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
These scripture leave little to interprete. If any person would not find it acceptable for their own love to be invalidated and sent into a treatment facility that tells them they are an abomination, yet do this to any other, then they are obviously not followers of Christ. They may be followers of Leviticus or maybe of Paul, but certainly not Christ. For they are doing unto another something they would not want done to themselves. Breaking the second commandment that is to be held above all others.
While Bryce may be a child of the Faulkner's, he is first and will always be, a child of God. Even as difficult as it is to see ones child as a human being equal to oneself in the eyes of God, this is indeed the fact that cannot be changed.
In my opinion, Bryce did not end the relationship, his mother did. However, now nearly 3 months later (08-27-09) Bryce finally called to say he wanted to end the relationship and he "was sorry for leading (Travis) astray." In my humble opinion, if the Faulkners did indeed love Bryce unconditionally, they would not only have stayed out of Bryce and Travis' relationship, but would have been happy Bryce found someone to love. They certainly would not have sent him away for treatment that has be proven by medical authorities to be harmful, dangerous and possibly fatal. This is of course, just my opinion.
This is not only the opinion of Rev. Brett Harris but of mine too and the thousands that have joined us in the cause. The cause first started to find Bryce but his parents and family are making that almost impossible to do. Bryce did call Travis a few months back and left a voice mail. He did not once in the Voice mail tell Travis that he didnt love him or to stop looking for him. It was just to ask him to take down the site. Travis and many others felt this voice mail was scripted and Bryce was told to say what he said.
Fox News even did a piece on the story and said they were told they would have a personal interview with Bryce but when it came down to talk to Bryce .. they were told that he was out of town spending time with family. There still has been no media or anybody that has personally talked to Bryce either by phone or in person.
What has this started? Well it has started a network that is growing to put an end to Gay Conversion Therapy. This is a cause that I feel so deeply about that I immediately joined the cause by doing what I could. Then I was approached by Rev. Brett Harris (Founder of FOB) to help more in a organizational role. I then accepted my new position of Minister of Civic Awareness for FOB (Friends of Bryce). As our network grows and people are made more aware of Gay Conversion Therapy and how damaging it is to a person, our organization is starting to form.
To find out more about how you can help FOB or learn more about it visit the official site at www.friendsofbryce.info or email me at MCA@Friendsofbryce.info.
If your not totally sure on how to help but would like to keep updated on what is going on with our movement and you are for Gay Rights and Equality please join us on the private network www.friendsofbryce.ning.com
If you yourself are a victim of Gay Conversion Therapy and need immediate help please visit the official site. There is a number for you to call.
